KOLMIVUOTINEN APRILLIPILA PILAA PYÖRÄILYN PÄÄVÄYLÄN PASILASSA
Kriittinen pyöräretki suuntaa tässä kuussa Pasilaan, jossa on vuosikymmenen pahin virhe työmaa-aikaisessa pyörätiejärjestelyssä.
Pasilan aseman työmaa katkaisi Ratapihantiellä Pasilan aseman reunaa kulkevan pyörätien 1.4.2016. Järjestely jatkuu vuoteen 2019 asti. Kyseinen pyörätie on yksi Helsingin pääpyöräreittejä ja se on myös osa tulevaa Baanaverkostoa. Käytännössä suurin osa Pohjois- ja Koillis-Helsingin pyöräliikenteestä keskustaan tulee tätä reittiä.
YIT ja Helsingin Kaupunkisuunnitteluvirasto on siirtänyt rakennustöiden ajaksi kolmeksi vuodeksi pyörätien Ratapihantien itäreunalle Haaga-Helian ammattikorkeakoulun kulmalta Teollisuuskadulle asti, josta palataan takaisin radan varteen jyrkkää ramppia pitkin. Ratapihantien itäreunalla pyörätie ja jalkakäytävä ovat eroteltu, mutta poiketen käytännössä katsottuna kaikista Suomen pyöräteistä, jalkakäytävä kulkee ajoradan reunassa ja pyörätie rakennusten seinustalla.Tällöin esimerkiksi Opastinsillan ja Lääninhallituksen ovet avautuvat suoraan pyörätielle. Liikennevaloja tälle noin 500 metrin kiertotiematkalle neljät - tai keskikorokkeineen yhdeksät! Odotustilaa pyörille risteyksiin ei ole suunniteltu. 90 asteen käännöksiä reitillä on kuusi, joista useissa näkyvyys risteävään suuntaan on lähes olematon.
Toimiva vaihtoehto tälle onnettomalle ratkaisulle on olemassa: ajoradalta voitaisiin erottaa kaista pyöräilylle työmaan ajaksi.
Huhtikuun Kriittisellä pyöräretkellä 12.4. haluamme lähettää vahvan viestin siitä, että pyöräilijöitä ei voi kohdella näin kaupungissa, joka pyrkii profiloitumaan pyöräilyn kehittäjänä.
Kriittisen pyöräretken järjestävät yhteistyössä Helsingin Polkupyöräilijät ja Helsingin seudun Maan ystävät.
Lähtöpaikkana Pyöräkeskus Narinkkatorilla. Kokoontuminen alkaa 17:30, liikkeelle lähdetään 18:00.
Kriittinen pyöräretki tekee kolme kierrosta Ratapihantietä Asemapäällikönkadun ja Rautatieläisenkadun välillä.

A THREE-YEAR APRIL FOOL'S JOKE SPOILS A MAIN CYCLING ROUTE IN PASILA
This month's Critical Mass Helsinki heads to Pasila, where exists the worst mistake of the decade in temporary, construction time cycling route.
The construction site of Pasila station blocked a permanent bicycle route along the edge of Pasila station in 1st April 2016. The temporary blockade exists until 2019. The bicycle route is one of the main cycling routes in Helsinki and it is also a part of the forthcoming "Cyclebahn" network. Practically largest amount of cycling traffic from Northern and Northeastern Helsinki to the city centre comes through this route.
The construction company YIT and Helsinki City Planning Department has moved the cycle path for next three years to the Eastern side of Ratapihantie street, from the corner of Haaga-Helia university of applied sciences to Teollisuuskatu street, where one returns back to the railway side along a steep ramp. At the Eastern side of Ratapihantie the cycle path and sidewalk are separated, but differing from practically all Finnish cycle paths, the sidewalk is next to the roadway and the cycle path close to the buildings. Therefore the doors of Opastinsilta and Pasila Bureau Centre open directly to the cycle path - with very limited visibility. There are four traffic lights for cyclists and pedestrians on this 500 metre route - or even nine, when the mid-road stop places are counted! No waiting space for cycles in the crossings is designed. There are six 90 degree turns, most of which have almost nonexisting visibility to the crossing direction.
There is a working alternative to this miserable solution: separating a lane for cycling from the roadway during the construction time.
On the Critical Mass of April we want to send a strong message that cyclist cannot be treated like this in a city who tries to be profilic in improving cycling.
The Critical Mass is organized by Helsinki Cyclists and Friends of the Earth Helsinki region.
The beginning of the demonstration is at Bicycle Centre at Narinkkatori square in Kamppi. The assembly begins at 17:30, start at 18:00.
