Inappropriate behavior or any kind of discrimination such as racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia or other forms of discrimination are not acceptable in any Friends of the Earth activities. By following these principles, we all actively strive to create a space as safe as possible for everyone.
- Don't harass anyone verbally or by touching or staring. No means no. Stop or change your behavior if the other person asks you to.
- Any form of bullying is prohibited.
- Take responsibility for your own actions. Be aware that despite good intentions, your actions can affect others negatively.
- Be respectful. Respect other people's opinions, perspectives, outlook on life, and different ways of being. Don't criticize anyone's appearance. Avoid an aggressive attitude towards others.
- Avoid making assumptions about other people's backgrounds, personal characteristics or experiences. However, since we make assumptions about others all the time, try to be aware of your own assumptions. Don't make generalizations about other people based on your personal experiences.
- Give space. Make sure that everyone is heard in conversations and gets to participate. Don't dominate the conversation or talk over others. When organizing an activity, offer different ways of participation if possible.
- Be aware that people have different personalities and experiences and different ways they prefer to participate and do things. What feels natural to one person might not feel that way to someone else. Do not force or pressure others to do or participate in something. Be especially careful in matters that require public performing.
- Respect the privacy and data protection of others. If you are taking photos, make sure that everyone in the picture agrees to it. Don't share or post photos or share anyone's names in public contexts without permission.
- If you experience any problematic situations and need help or support, please ask. You can contact the harassment contact person(s) or the board members of Friends of the Earth. Intervene if you witness any inappropriate behavior.
